Amazon's got the granddaddy of all affiliate programs with their associates program. If you read this blog, chances are you're already a member. The payouts aren't amazing, but the fact that Amazon sells everything under the sun is a nice plus. There's lots of material out there about the pros (Darren Rowse has used it for years) and cons (John Chow doesn't use it) of the Amazon affiliate program.
One of the big hassles with Amazon Associates is how affiliate links are created. I've been a member for years (about $100 in commissions in the last couple of years, if you're curious), and despite repeated entries on my task list to install and play with WordPress plugins for Amazon, I never got around to it until a couple of weeks ago.
Now that I have, I wish I'd done it literally years ago. If you've ever created an Amazon affiliate link and you use WordPress, go download the WP-Amazon plugin now. I can't believe I ever created an affiliate link without it.

I've heard both the pros and cons of amazon affiliate, I didn't realize there was a plugin to make things easier. I always thought the payouts vs the hassle weren't really worth it. Thanks for the Info, I might give this a try.

Amazon is doing nothing on my site. I am keeping it a bit longer since the holidays are coming up, but I hope it produces something.

I was reading your blog and I thought you might be a good person for this. I am with a little startup that has built a new tool that lets you add pictures and video's into your blog as well as links to Amazon.com without having to upload them or use embed codes. Its a completely new way to interact with your website.
We are looking for a few intrepid souls to try out our tool and tell us
what they think. If you are interested we would love to get your feedback.

I've used Amazon now and again over the past few years but never made much from it - usually just a few hundred at Christmas time. Good to see there's a plugin for it though

Not going to make me rich but it's not bad to fill the empty spaces.
