Dear (some early stage startup company with an interesting product I can believe in):

I'd like to forego a little formality in the interests of conveying easy cultural assimilation. Your job postings and minimal web presence indicate that you're a group that values a wee bit of smart-aleckiness in your communication, and so I'll do my best to emulate that.

It's been quite awhile since I've had the privilege of drinking some startup Kool-Aid, and I miss it terribly. 12 hour work days, logging in from home at midnight, gobbling dinner in front of a terminal, and figuring out new, creative ways to channel more power to the reality distortion field? The we-can-change the-world if we only work hard and fast enough mentality? Hacking together a couple of disparate pieces of code to bring a product to market or fulfill a proof of concept?

Sign me up! You're marketing quite a few open positions, and I think I can fit into several of them -- the quintessential startup candidate. I'm smart (even occasionally brilliant), entrepreneurial, creative, well-spoken, driven, and know my way around all the popular IT buzzwords. I even caught myself using "AJAX" as a verb the other day!

(See for the formal list.)

I'd love to chat further about your company vision (post NDA, naturally) and spend some time selling myself to you. Please contact me at your convenience.

Sincerest Regards,
