I've gone through the trouble of setting up purchasing links to Amazon a couple of times in past blogs, and it's a pain. Seems like it would a pretty nice tool that automatically takes a string, accesses some cached data containing the Amazon affiliate ID credentials, and creates an href for you on the fly.

Probably have to make it an IE plug-in for easy inclusion in blogging, but I bet that would be worth a few dozen dollars from a few million amazon affiliates.

Alternatively, a free version could be distributed as share-a-sale-ware, with an alogorithm that drops in the author's affiliate ID 10% of time.

Come to think of it, a plug-in for IE/FF might be share-a-sale-ware (for bloggers), and a plugin for Dreamweaver/Indesign/other web designer tools should be at a nominal price. There's also the blogging tool plug-in aspect as well -- for, say, Wordpress and Typepad...

Hmmmm. I wonder how many dollars pass through the Amazon affiliate network?
